Training

Training is available to all current active employees of Rural/Metro Ambulance regardless of full-time or part-time status.

Continuing Education (CE)
CE exceeds Colorado requirements for all levels of EMT. The program meets the NREMT-P requirements through monthly scheduled CE. Opportunities are available for additional CE for example: IV Therapy; PEPP; PHTLS; ACLS; BLS.
Ergonomics
This class developed through Rural/Metro teaches all Rural/Metro employees the importance of proper lifting technique and the importance of personal well being.
Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator II (CEVO II)
All new field EMTs and employees driving vehicles must complete and pass CEVO II, which incorporates 8 hours of interactive classroom and scored practice and evaluations while driving on a marked course.

New Employee Orientation Program (NEOP)
Our new employee orientation starts with approximately 24 hours of classroom participation.

- Customer Service
- OSHA
- CEVO II
- Documentation
- Ergonomics
- ALS Equipment and Skills
- Mapping
- Respect for Others and Sexual Harassment Training
- Communications

Once the classroom portion is complete, the new employee will be placed in the field with a Field Instructor to learn the most effective ways to put these topics into practice. Emphasis will be placed on local protocol and healthcare provider interaction. The completion of the NEOP includes a comprehensive protocol and mapping test.
